Public Relations and Communication Coordinator (part-time position)

Position: Public Relations and Communication Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Manager

Basic Functions: The Public Relations and Communication Coordinator creates and maintains a favorable public image for AIPROM by communicating programs, accomplishments and/or points of view. He/she performs job-specific tasks related to AIPROM projects and cooperate with the other staff persons for project implementation, as necessary. Using his/her knowledge and experience, s/he will implement the public relations and communication policies and guidelines of AIPROM. This position reports to the Executive Manager of the Association.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Project promotion activities 

• Plan communication strategies and campaigns.

• Develop a media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online

• Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting members and stakeholders and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them

 Plan specific lobbying and advocacy activities of the Association as a result of the changes in the industry legislation

 Support the advocacy campaigns of the Association at national and European level, developing communication materials for institutional bodies

 Manage media inquiries and interview requests

 Create content for press releases, by-line articles and keynote presentations

 Monitor, analyse and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis

 Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis

 Build relationships with thought leaders to grow industry awareness

 Support the organization of promotional events such as press conferences, exhibitions etc.

 Coordinate with AIPROM staff, collaborators and other project stakeholders to ensure synergies among different communication activities

 Monitor marketing and communication budget allocated per project and provide periodical reports

 Update project communication documentation in a timely manner

 Maintain up-to-date the website and Facebook page of AIPROM

 Document meetings as required

 Ensure on-time communication between relevant project structures


Position Elements:

a. Supervision Received: Supervised directly by the Executive Manager. Reports to the Executive Manager. For new, difficult, or unusual tasks, the supervisor give directions on objectives and suggested procedures. Incumbent expected to take the initiative to meet established deadlines, document and communicate procedures to AIPROM office.

b. Available Guidelines: 1) project documentation 2) National legislation 3) European legislation 4) Crop Life International Code of Conduct; 5) information provided by the Executive Manager, other AIPROM staff and AIPROM Working Groups members

c. Exercise of Judgment: Ensures the best possible services are received. Prioritizes the tasks s/he is in charge of in order to provide timely service to AIPROM office. Able to reprioritize tasks based on changing requirements of the office. Determines how procedures will be done for new tasks to ensure efficiency speed in the completion of the task.

d. Authority to Make Commitments: The Public Relations and Communication Coordinator is expected to represent AIPROM in the relationship with certain service providers. When in doubt, final authorization is given by the Executive Manager. Incumbent will be held accountable for the proper documentation and inventory of the marketing properties dispersed to stakeholders.

e. Time sharing: This is a part-time position. Over 80% of the time will be spent in Bucharest office. The rest may (but not necessarily) be spent outside Bucharest.


Job Requirements:

 Proven working experience in public relations required

• Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level

 Strong relationships with European, national business and industry media outlets

 Very good communication (speaking, writing and editing) skills

 Solid experience with social media including blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn,Twitter etc.

 Event planning experience

 BA/MA degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline

 Proficient in preparing professional presentations

 Capable of basic statistics analysis and interpretation

 Very good time-management, planning and organizing skills

 Ability to work effectively both independently and in a small team based environment

 Pro-active self-starting attitude is required ("to do" attitude, solving problems attitude)

 Fluency in speaking and writing English is a must

 Open to working in multinational environment..
